Why not using shampoo is good

Study on not using shampoo

The truth is most of us will not wash our hair without shampoo. When it comes to the topic of quitting shampoo people have different approaches to it. Some think that not using shampoo does not do your hair any good while others differ. There are lots of benefits that come with not using shampoo on your hair some of which you may not have realized just yet.

For your own overall health and the health of your hair, it may be a good idea if you just ditch shampoo. Many people are definitely not aware of all the negative effects shampoo has on the hair, skin and even the environment.

Is it healthier to not use shampoo?

I do know this is the question that is running in the minds of people who are skeptical about quitting shampoo. If you asked me I would say yes. Considering all the cons associated with the use of shampoo it is much healthier to not use it at all. The reason as to why avoiding shampoo is healthy for you is because the commercial shampoos that you find in the stores are loaded with chemicals that may be harmful to you. For instance, there is the sodium lauryl sulfate which is a detergent and an emulsifier. It is found in almost all the shampoos that are out there in the market. This ingredient is thought to be contaminated with carcinogenic compounds during the manufacturing process. Another compound that is found in the shampoos is Phthalates. This ingredient is linked to various health problems among them is birth defects in boys and lower sperm mobility in men. This is an indication of just how harmful shampoos can be.

Another thing that shampoo does is it strips your hair of natural oils. The idea behind shampooing your hair is to remove the oils in it and dirt. On the other hand, what you don’t know is that your hair actually needs these oils in order for it to be healthy. That is why the body produces natural oils in the first place. The natural oil produced in your hair is necessary to keep it shiny, soft and lustrous. However, when you remove all these oils with the harsh shampoos the hair then becomes dry and frizzy. Additionally, when all the natural oils are removed from the hair the body is then triggered to produce more oil to make up for the lost ones. You might think you are solving the problem while it’s the other way round. You are only making it worse.

Is shampoo really necessary?

You don’t need shampoo to have clean and nice smelling hair. There are people who wash their hair with plain water and they are still able to keep it clean. Quitting shampoo is a gradual process. Your hair may feel different in the first few days but it will get better once it gets used to it. As a matter of fact, it will be healthier and better than when you used shampoo. In addition, there are other alternatives to a shampoo that will help to keep your hair clean.

What happens if I don’t wash my hair with shampoo?

Not using shampoo on your hair is not gross and it doesn’t mean that you have dirty and smelly hair. Your hair may feel oily when you stop using shampoo but with time it becomes normal and you will notice the excess oil goes away on its own. The truth is your hair will not get any worse with quitting shampoo. If you had hair that was not really soft when you were washing it with shampoo when you stop it will not get any worse. As a matter of fact, you may be lucky enough to notice an improvement.

How do you keep your hair clean without shampoo?

There are various ways you can keep your hair clean without necessarily using shampoo. For instance, you can use baking soda in the place of shampoo to clean your hair. It is actually an inexpensive option and it is eco-friendly. Since it is alkaline in nature it will be able to remove dirt and grease from your hair. Just take one tablespoon baking soda and mix with 2 cups of hot water. After the solution cools pour it over your hair and massage into the scalp.

Another alternative is apple cider vinegar. You can opt to use it after washing your hair with baking soda. It works as a conditioner and also restores the pH balance of the hair. One tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed into two cups of water will do the trick. This leaves the hair shiny and beautiful.

Water can also be a good way to keep your hair clean. When you are in the shower all you have to is run the water through your hair as you massage the scalp. It works just fine to keep your hair properly clean especially if you do not have very oily hair.

Does not washing your hair make it grow?

Not washing your hair definitely sounds gross. We all love clean and nice smelling hair. To tell you the truth, avoiding to wash your hair will not make it grow longer. Your hair needs to be kept clean in order for it to stay healthy and grow. When you go for long periods without washing your hair there is a buildup of dirt and oils on it that can lead to dandruff or worse hair loss. What you need to do is to avoid washing the hair. Don’t wash it every single day as this will make the hair strands weak and fragile.

Why you should never wash your hair

It’s important that you wash your hair. This does not mean that you do it too frequently. Washing your hair every other day will make the strands to get thinned and this can lead to hair loss. The best thing to do is to wash the hair at least two times in a week.
